I'm sitting at my desk, bored. I have nothing to do. I'm listening to an audiotape. Also quite bland. I stare at the awful clutter of things on my desk and something catches my eye under a tangle of headphones - Zebra Gum. Zebra Gum, or FruitStripe as it is actually called is possibly my favorite thing in the world. I mean, what could be better than fruit flavored gum painted with colorful stripes, with temporary Zebra tattoos on the back?
If it was just fruit flavored gum, nobody would care. The name FruitStripe just wouldn't make sense. Nobody would buy it. Fruit flavored gum painted with colorful stripes? Now we have something. This could get big.
Now I can't imagine how you even think of having a Zebra as a mascot for gum (I would have chosen a Koala as they live on/near gum trees), but whoever thought of it, is the God of Gum.
A sport playing Zebra spokesperson for Fruit flavored gum with colorful stripes painted on it. A miracle in itself.
I slowly reach out and take hold of a piece. I slide off the paper covering to reveal the wrapper that is graced by two happy zebras playing sports. One seems to be rollerskating, and the other is HOLY CRAP HE'S PARA GLIDING.
With a sudden shock from witnessing such a graceful animal, I open the wrapper to find a perfectly formed piece of yellow gum, painted with dark yellow stripes. Or is it dark yellow with light yellow stripes? Wait a moment, is that how they got a zebra for a mascot? The questions has been asked many a time "Is a zebra black with white stripes or white with black stripes?" Could this be how FruitStripe found a zebra as its mascot, because FruitStripe is indistinguishable from dark with light stripes or light with dark stripes? Oh I just love this gum.\
I pop it in my mouth and it tastes like lemon - my favorite flavor of anything. Yumm. I chew it again and again and again in a slow chewing motion, almost hypnotized by the sheer amazingness of this gum. And yes Blogger, I know that amazingness is not a word. But I must use it anyways.
In the time it has taken me to write this entry, the gum has slowly begun to taste like rubber. It feels awkward in my mouth. I spit it out. Meh.
